The Blue Raider women’s golf team moved into first place at the Golfweek Spring Challenge on Apr. 7, following a strong performance in the second round at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

The team’s six-over-par score of 290 on Tuesday afternoon gave them a two-shot lead heading into the final round of the tournament. One graduate student led Middle Tennessee with a low round of 69, climbing 33 spots to tie for 14th place after making just one bogey on the front nine.

Another player continued her consistent play by shooting one-over-par and now leads the Blue Raiders individually, currently tied for sixth place and aiming for her second top-10 finish this season. She recorded three birdies during her round to move up to T6 with an overall score of 143.

A third teammate made a birdie late in her round but finished with a three-over-par 74 due to an earlier double bogey. She remains inside the top ten, tied for ninth with a total score of 144 after two rounds.

Two other team members both carded four-over-par scores of 75 on Tuesday. For Bowman, this result dropped her five spots from Monday’s position after shooting a first-round score of 71. Manley improved significantly compared to her previous round, jumping up eighteen places on the leaderboard and now tied for sixty-fourth with an overall score of 156.

Another junior competitor is currently tied for seventy-ninth as an individual participant after posting an eighty-one in Tuesday’s round and has accumulated a total score of one hundred sixty through two rounds.
