Rep. Mark Green, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee’s 7th district since 2019, shared his perspectives on several issues through social media posts on May 9, 2025. The congressman addressed topics ranging from immigration enforcement to energy policy and federal permitting processes.

In a tweet posted at 15:25 UTC, Rep. Green criticized Hill Democrats for allegedly obstructing the Trump administration’s efforts to enforce immigration laws. He stated, “Hill Democrats simply do not want the Trump administration to carry out the will of the people and enforce the laws. At their core, they oppose immigration enforcement, for extreme political and ideological reasons.” He encouraged readers to explore more in his op-ed with the Daily Caller.

Later that day at 16:03 UTC, Rep. Green expressed skepticism about renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. He argued that these energy solutions are costly and unreliable compared to alternatives like natural gas and nuclear power. He wrote, “The zero-emission zealots don’t want to hear it, but nationwide power grids running on solar and wind power are too expensive and unreliable.”

At 17:00 UTC on the same day, Rep. Green turned his attention to federal regulations affecting industries such as shipbuilding. He described the current permitting process as a “bureaucratic minefield” that hampers production by increasing costs and stifling competition. His tweet read, “The federal permitting process is a bureaucratic minefield that drives up costs, slows down production, and suppresses competition.”

Mark E. Green has been an active participant in legislative discussions since replacing Marsha Blackburn in Congress in 2019 after serving in the Tennessee Senate from 2013 to 2018.
