Mark E. Green, a U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee’s 7th district since 2019, has recently shared several updates on social media addressing various topics of personal and national interest.

On March 21, 2025, Rep. Mark Green expressed his condolences over the death of Joe Newman Whitworth, Benton County’s last World War II veteran. In his post, he stated: “I’m saddened by the passing of Joe Newman Whitworth, Benton County’s last World War II veteran. He was a father, a soldier, a pillar of the community, and a man of faith. My prayers are with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as they remember and celebrate”.

Later that day at 21:00 UTC, Rep. Green directed his followers to a podcast discussing economic relations with China. He posed the question: “How much should we buy from China? Listen in on my podcast with @WashTimes here: https://t.co/4WjnQrulrC https://t.co/Dh8IADWWQW”.

The following day on March 22, 2025, Rep. Green highlighted concerns about China’s shipbuilding capabilities compared to those of the United States. He announced legislative action aimed at strengthening America’s maritime industry through the introduction of the Save Our Shipyards (SOS) Act. He stated: “China’s massive shipbuilding capacity far outpaces the United States. That’s why I introduced the Save Our Shipyards (SOS) Act. We must restore our maritime industrial base to safeguard our national security.”
