Rep. Mark Green, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee’s 7th district since 2019, recently shared his views on several issues through social media. His comments reflect ongoing legislative and societal concerns.

On May 22, 2025, Rep. Green emphasized the importance of enhancing the naval capabilities of the United States by advocating for a stronger Navy and Coast Guard. He stated, “On this National Maritime Day, let’s support a stronger and more robust Navy and Coast Guard. We need more ships! My SOS Bill will make sure that our sailors have an advanced, growing fleet to defend the American people.”

The following day, May 23, 2025, he addressed the long-standing issue faced by K2 veterans in obtaining necessary medical care from the Department of Defense (DOD) and Veterans Affairs (VA). He remarked on the persistence required to bring attention to their plight: “For more than two decades, the DOD and the VA refused to provide K2 veterans the medical care they needed. It took years of advocacy to get their stories heard, but today, lawmakers know what K2 is and what happened there.” Further details can be found in his op-ed published in Clarksville Now.

Later that same day, Rep. Green commented on recent events involving student protests at college campuses. He highlighted a concerning trend with his observation: “Maybe the thousands of students chanting ‘globalize the intifada’ across college campuses didn’t know what that phrase means—that’s no longer an excuse. What happened this week in Washington is just a small example of what a globalized intifada looks like.”

Mark E. Green was born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1964 and currently resides in Clarksville. Before serving in Congress since 2019, he was a member of the Tennessee Senate from 2013 to 2018.
