Rep. Mark Green, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee’s 7th district, shared his perspectives on various issues through a series of tweets on May 9, 2025.

In one tweet, Rep. Green expressed concerns about foreign influence on the U.S. economy, particularly highlighting the actions of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). He stated that “Our adversaries—like the Chinese Communist Party—are trying to replace the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency.” According to Green, Senator Hagerty’s bipartisan bill could have bolstered the U.S. dollar by increasing demand for U.S. Treasuries, a measure that he noted was not supported by Senate Democrats.

Another tweet from Rep. Green addressed public safety achievements in Tennessee. He reported that several individuals with criminal backgrounds were apprehended, including members of a gang known as Tren de Aragua and individuals convicted of serious crimes such as child sex offenses and aggravated assault. He commented that “Tennesseans are safer because of it.”

In a separate post concerning national security and academic integrity, Rep. Green discussed potential risks associated with international academic collaborations involving adversarial nations like China. He remarked that “The CCP is taking advantage of academic cooperation to gain access to sensitive STEM research and development.” This statement calls for increased caution among universities when engaging in such partnerships.

Mark E. Green has been an active member of Congress since 2019 after succeeding Marsha Blackburn and previously served in the Tennessee Senate from 2013 to 2018.
