Blount County Sheriff's Office Congratulations to the Graduates of our STAND (Sheriff and Teens Against Negligent Driving)

Congratulations to the graduates of our STAND (Sheriff and Teens Against Negligent Driving) who attended our class August 5 and 6. The students spent Friday evening and Saturday receiving 10 hours of instruction on the fundamentals of driving. The students also listened to an impact statement from Mrs. Hazel Hughes who lost her son due to a distracted driving accident several years ago. The students, who have their driving permit or their graduated license represented all high schools in Blount County.

It was a pleasure to spend time with these young people. We saw improvement from all of the students in the class. Our STAND class is one of our most popular offerings to the community, and we are happy to provide the opportunity. Our next class will likely take place in 2023. We will keep you posted on our upcoming classes. Thank you to everyone who participated and donated lunch and water for the class!
