Freed-Hardeman University Accounting Program Surpassed by only Vanderbilt in Average Score

In line with Freed-Hardeman University College of Business’s reputation for excellence, the most recent report of the Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination places FHU students among the top in the state of Tennessee. FHU MBA grads’ average score across all testing was 73.9, surpassing every university in the state, save one: Vanderbilt University.

First-time CPA Exam takers with master’s degrees from FHU had the third highest pass rate among all institutions in Tennessee. Their 62.5% pass rate was behind only Vanderbilt and East Tennessee State University. All CPA Exam takers (first timers and retakers) with master’s degrees from FHU had the fourth highest pass rate among all institutions in Tennessee, topped only by Vanderbilt, Rhodes and, narrowly, UT Knoxville.

Dr. Brandon Lanciloti, assistant dean, assistant professor of accounting and director of the accounting program at FHU, a CPA himself, states, “We are thrilled with the success of the recent CPA Exam results. We have a great combination of knowledgeable accounting faculty and very talented, driven students. Our students continue to impress us with what they are capable of in and outside the classroom.”

CPA certification confirms an accountant’s skills in taxation, auditing, regulatory compliance and financial analysis. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants creates and owns the Exam.
