University of Tennessee at Martin Equestrian Stays in Ninth Slot in Final NCEA Top-10 Poll of Fall Semester

Only the middle four spots in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association polls changed from last week as the University of Tennessee at Martin remained ninth in the last edition of the rankings for the 2022 fall season.

SMU is still No. 1 as TCU and Auburn complete the top-three. Texas A&M is now sitting at No. 4 and is followed by new rankings of No. 5 South Carolina, No. 6 Oklahoma State and No. 7 Georgia. Baylor (No. 8), UT Martin (No. 9) and Delaware State (No. 10) stayed the same from the week before.

The Skyhawks wrapped up the fall campaign with a 2-3 overall record while tacking on two more victories in scrimmages. UT Martin sits atop the Eastern College Athletic Conference standings with an unblemished 2-0 record under head coach Kim Leiter. The Skyhawks were remarkably consistent during the first half of the 2022-23 campaign as they were ranked in the top-10 in each of the 10 NCEA polls this semester.

A total of 18 UT Martin riders (10 in Jumping Seat discipline, eight in Western discipline) officially took part in the action during the fall, combining for 61 victories and 11 MOP's.

In fences, the Skyhawks produced 20 head-to-head wins and three MOP's. Julia Gilman's six victories led the way while Sydney Hott's 82.0 scoring average and two MOP's ranked as team-highs. UT Martin also recorded 20 victories and three MOP's in flat, led by Hott (co-team-high five wins, team-best two MOP's, team-high 84.6 scoring average) and Haley Kane (co-team-high five victories).

The Skyhawks joined forces for eight wins and two MOP's in horsemanship as Lexi Bailey, Keely Seiter, Emma Schaefer and Kate Davis are all tied for the team lead with two victories apiece. Bailey and Davis share the team lead with one MOP each while Bailey boasts a team-best 75.5 scoring average. UT Martin is responsible for 13 victories and three MOP's in reining as Logan Putvinski tops the team in both wins (five) and scoring average (69.9). The trio of Putvinski, Bailey and Aubrey Malone have all brought home MOP accolades so far.

Six regular season meets are on the 2023 spring schedule, which will start on Jan. 27-28 when the Skyhawks travel to Texas for matchups against No. 8 Baylor and No. 1 SMU.
