Three members of the King University women's basketball team scored in double figures Monday, but it wasn't enough, as Barton College made some clutch free throws late to hang on for a 78-74 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- Barton got off to a hot start, making their first four shots to take a 9-0 lead before an Ashley Allen layup got King on the board.
- The Tornado deficit grew to 20-7 with four minutes remaining in the quarter, but the Tornado closed with a run.
- Jada Campbell started an 11-0 run with a triple before a pair of Alexa Gramann free throws.
- Tori Smiley made two free throws before another Allen layup pulled King within 20-18 after the opening 10 minutes.
- Barton scored the first points of the period, but Campbell answered with a triple and a pair of Gramann free throws gave King a 23-22 lead.
- Barton then scored five straight before King scored six consecutive points to take a 29-27 lead following a Smiley triple.
- With King leading 33-31 following a Campbell layup, Barton closed the quarter on a 5-0 run.
- Lauren Walker beat the halftime buzzer with triple to give Barton a 36-33 lead at the break.
- Barton held the lead early in the third quarter before four free throws from Le'Aije Ellington and Aroa Garcia evened the tally at 44.
- However, Barton responded with five straight points before a Smiley triple cut the King deficit back to two.
- The teams then traded points before Walker beat the buzzer again to give Barton a 56-53 going to the fourth period.
- Barton scored six straight points, extending their lead to 66-57 before an Allen free throw and Ellington bucket.
- King later trailed 72-63 with three minutes remaining, but the Tornado went on a run.
- Smiley and Allen came up with back-to-back baskets before a Jaelyn West triple pulled King within 72-70 with 40 seconds remaining.
- The Tornado pulled within one twice, at 73-72 and 75-74 with 13 seconds remaining.
- However, Barton made free throws down the stretch to take the contest 78-74.
- Smiley led the Tornado with 18 points, marking the fifth time in the last six games that she has scored in double figures.
- Campbell scored a career-high 11 points, while Gramann added 15 and a team-high six rebounds.
- Lauren Walker scored a career-high 33 points to lead all scorers, going 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
- Lauren Mingo scored 17 points, with Payton Sutton adding 10 and a team-high seven rebounds.
