The King University women's golf team opened their spring season this week, competing at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate, hosted by Lincoln Memorial University. The Tornado finished 15th in a 17 team field, with Lisa Wahlqvist shooting a 241 to place 47th on the leaderboard.


THE BASICS

KING RESULTS: 15 of 17 (341-335-329 – 1005)

LOCATION: The Golf Club at South Hampton; St. Augustine, Fla.

COURSE DETAILS: par 72; 5958 yards


HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Wahlqvist shot an 83 in the opening round, before carding a 77 in round two and an 81 in round three, finishing with 241.
  • Emilia Schildt finished tied for 49th, with scores of 84, 84 and 79, a total of 247.
  • Arika Wickramasinha carded an 89 in the first round before shooting matching 85's in the second and third round, totaling 259.
  • Ellie Pittman shot 88 in the first round, before carding a 92 in round two and an 84 in round three, turning in a total of 264.
  • Joanna Stevens shot an 86 in the first round and an 89 in round two before withdrawing.
FOR THE FOES

  • Lynn University won the team event, with a three-round total of 881, besting Lander by nine strokes.
  • Individual medalist honors went to Maria Hoyos of Lynn, who carded a 217, winning by three strokes over Mari Morales of Limestone and her teammate, Camila Madariaga.
UP NEXT

  • The Tornado will compete at the Converse Spring Invite on March 13-14 in Spartanburg, S.C.
