Michael Mays has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season. He is the second men's basketball player to win this honor three times in a single season.

Mays, a senior from Bristol, Tenn., averaged 28.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game last week for the Tornado. He scored 37 points in a must-win game Wednesday against Southern Wesleyan, finishing one shy of his career-high. He also shot 68.2 percent from the field against SWU, his best shooting performance of the season. Sunday in the first round of the Atlantic Casualty Insurance Conference Carolinas Tournament against Francis Marion, Mays scored 20 points, with five rebounds and three assists.
