Rep. Mark Green comments on tragic aviation accident near Reagan National Airport

Rep. Mark Green, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee's 7th district, shared a series of tweets regarding a tragic incident involving a plane and helicopter crash near Reagan National Airport. Green has been in office since replacing Marsha Blackburn in 2019 and previously served in the Tennessee Senate from 2013 to 2018.

On January 30, Rep. Green tweeted about the unfortunate crash: "Praying for the passengers and crew involved in the plane and helicopter crash tonight near Reagan National Airport. While we work to get more information, we are also thankful for the efforts of the first responders."

Later that day, he provided an update on Twitter stating: "Early this morning, search and rescue efforts transitioned to search and recovery. Our hearts are with the families and loved ones of everyone involved in this tragedy." This shift marked a significant development as authorities continued their response to the accident.

In another tweet posted shortly after, Rep. Green mentioned his appearance on Fox News discussing the event: "My reaction on @FoxNews, just hours after the tragic plane and helicopter crash over the Potomac River." He noted that hundreds of personnel were working tirelessly under challenging conditions: "Hundreds of search and rescue personnel have been working around the clock in frigid temperatures."
