The Vanderbilt men’s golf team finished in second place at the 2026 Mason Rudolph Championship, according to an April 5 announcement. The Commodores posted a total score of 9-under 843 over three rounds on the South Course at Vanderbilt Legends Club.

The result is significant as it marks Vanderbilt’s only home tournament of the season and demonstrates strong performances from both experienced and younger players. The team recorded under-par scores in all three rounds, with final round scores of 282, 280, and 281.

Freshman Jon Ed Steed tied for third individually with a career-best total of 6-under 207. This was his second consecutive top-five finish after placing fourth at the Linger Longer Invitational. Steed’s performance included fourteen birdies, tying for most in the field. Sophomore Ryan Downes also placed in the top five, tying for fifth with a score of four-under-par across three rounds.

Head coach Scott Limbaugh said, “First off, I just want to say thanks to everybody who made the Mason Rudolph Championship such a special week. I really thought we put on a first-class event, and I know all the other coaches and players really enjoyed it. I learned a lot about our team this week. Our young guys are continuing to get better and step up, and it was really good to see Jon Ed, Ryan, and Will really kind of carry water for us this week. I’m super proud of that. I love the fight that we put up today… We’ve just had some lapses of concentration… We just got to clean that stuff up.” Limbaugh added: “We’ve got one more regular-season event to work on that… every single thing we want is in front of us. We got to keep taking ownership of our actions and putting in the work.”

Other notable performances included freshman Will Hartman finishing even par for his first collegiate top-15 result; Michael Riebe tied for twenty-fifth; Wells Williams tied for thirty-second; while junior Chase Nevins led Vanderbilt’s B team by tying for twenty-second overall.

Auburn University won both team (26-under) and individual titles (Jackson Koivun at twelve-under). Vanderbilt will conclude its regular season April 13-14 at Mossy Oak Collegiate Championship.
