Vanderbilt University announced on May 10 that its women’s golf team will begin competition at the Stanford Regional on Monday, aiming for a fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship. The Commodores, seeded third, are grouped with top-seeded Stanford and Pepperdine as they start the 54-hole regional event at the par-71, 6,271-yard Stanford Golf Course.
The significance of this tournament lies in Vanderbilt’s pursuit of maintaining its streak of NCAA Championship appearances. Success at this stage is crucial for advancing to the national championship.
The lineup remains unchanged from the SEC Championships and features veterans Lynn Lim, Ava Merrill, and Sara Im. Sophomore Angelina Tolentino and freshman Kathryn Ha complete the team’s five-player roster. Elizabeth Rudisill has been named as an alternate.
Head coach Greg Allen said, “If you can’t get excited about playing college golf in May, then maybe check your pulse. This is the time of year when it gets really fun – all the morning workouts, long days on the golf course, endless hours on the range and the putting green are to get us prepared for this week.”
Allen also addressed his team’s approach: “We’ve talked about doing the small things really well this week and putting our focus on the things that we can control. If we can do that at a high level, then I feel good about this team getting it done.”
Looking ahead, Vanderbilt aims to leverage its experience and preparation as it competes against strong opponents in hopes of securing another trip to nationals.
