Vanderbilt women’s golf ended its season on May 13 after finishing sixth at the Stanford Regional, missing out on advancing to the NCAA Championship round for the first time in five seasons.
The result marks a disappointing end for a team that had been in strong position through much of the tournament. The Commodores were 2-over for the weekend through 10 holes but struggled over their final eight holes, playing them at 14-over par and making only one birdie down the stretch.
Vanderbilt finished Wednesday’s final round at 15-over and closed out the week at 16-over, eight shots short of qualification. Head coach Greg Allen said, “This one stings and it’s going to sting for a while. We literally had it in our hands with 3-5 holes to play. We made bogies and Missouri made birdies. Credit to them, they were clutch down the stretch and we were not.”
Allen added that he hopes this experience will serve as motivation next year when Vanderbilt hosts regionals: “We will use today as a learning opportunity to make sure we don’t let this happen next year when we host. We’ve got to be better at doing the little things. We made too many mistakes on and around the greens. Although we are disappointed, I do think we did a lot of good things this year and have so much to build on for next year.”
Ava Merrill, Sara Im, and Lynn Lim each carded rounds of three-over-par 74; Kathryn Ha shot four-over-par 75; Angelina Tolentino finished with a score of 79. Vanderbilt held a four-shot lead over Missouri midway through its back nine but lost ground as Missouri played its last three holes five-under while Vanderbilt went four over during that same stretch.
Stanford won the regional title at forty-two under par; Pepperdine finished second at four under; Oregon State, Arizona State, and Missouri secured spots in Omni La Costa.
The season ends with Vanderbilt ranked No.13 heading into regionals. Senior Lynn Lim concludes her collegiate career having earned honors such as SEC Freshman of the Year (2023) and SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year (2026).
