When I think about Independence Day, I think about the incredible courage of our founding fathers. Courage that built a nation on the proposition that all men and women had a right to freedom. The signers of the Declaration of Independence literally pledged their lives to America. They fully understood the gravity of their actions and the penalty of treason. They pushed forward. It has been said that John Hancock wrote his name big enough for King George to see without his glasses. Bravery at its highest level.
When I think of other acts of incredible bravery, I think of the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office. They put their life on the line every single day for the people of Anderson County. Just this week, three deputies were killed in Eastern KY. The job has become increasingly tougher with the threat of violence towards officers at an all-time high. But like John Hancock, the men and women at ACSO understand the seriousness of their mission and boldly defend our freedoms. They will never back down and will always serve and protect the people of Anderson County. That I am certain.
Happy Independence Day!
