Burchett has been an active political figure since 2019 when he replaced former Congressman Jimmy Duncan. He has also served in the Tennessee House of Representatives and the Tennessee Senate.
On January 25, 2025, Rep. Burchett expressed his opinion on FEMA through a tweet stating, "Get rid of FEMA completely. The states can get it to their people on the ground actually doing the work. Pencil pushers in Washington left these people for dead."
On January 26, 2025, he extended his support to a sports team with a tweet saying, "Good luck to @Vol_Hoops tonight against Auburn #GBO".
Later that day, Rep. Burchett announced his upcoming appearance on Fox News to discuss cryptocurrency by tweeting, "I’ll be joining @FoxNews around 3:15pm EST to talk @DOGE".
