Rep. Tim Burchett, a U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee’s 2nd district since 2019, recently shared several thoughts on social media concerning various topics. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1964 and an alumnus of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Burchett has been a vocal presence in both state and national politics.

On November 22, 2024, Rep. Burchett criticized certain university practices that he believes contribute to Marxist ideologies among college graduates. He stated: "People don’t have to wonder why our fresh college graduates are openly Marxist. It’s because universities like @etsu put this trash on display, inside and outside of the classroom." He urged for immediate action by saying "This needs to be taken down."

On November 23, 2024, he expressed his support for a sports team from his home state by tweeting: "Good luck to @Vol_Hoops taking on @BaylorMBB". This message conveyed encouragement for the University of Tennessee's basketball team as they prepared to face Baylor University's team.

Later that same day, Burchett highlighted an article penned by a staff member from his Knoxville office. He remarked: "Great article written by a young lady in my Knoxville office. This shouldn’t be happening in Tennessee." While the specifics of the article were not detailed in his tweet, it is clear that it addresses issues pertinent to Tennesseans.
